About us
Operation Empowering Hope was created after our youngest daughter joined the Army. When she arrived at Fort Wainwright all of the items that she could commit suicide with were taken away- knives, bow & arrow, etc. We thought it was odd but who knows, maybe that is the way it is. For fun, I made similar bags to the ones made for Project "Thank You, Soldier!" for my daughters who were all living away from home. They enjoyed them and expressed appreciation for the cheerful gift. Our Army girl was at that time assigned to a barrack with very bad living conditions. So the thought was to make 50 bags for her to hand out to the other people on her floor. Young women would knock at her door at all hours of the night and crash in the extra bed. She moved on to a better barrack. I didn't think too much about it until one day I realized there were still Soldiers living in that barrack in very depressing conditions. At about the same time our Army girl was assigned a roommate who had just come out of quarantine. She called me to tell me about what the Soldiers have to live through and said "It's a big job, Mom, you don't have to do anything....." How could I not get involved? God was good and didn't let me know just how BIG the need was or I might have run the other direction! (No one ever said I was an example of iron will!) Army girl connected me with the Chaplains on the base to see what they felt the biggest needs were..... and that is where all of us come in! Use the contact form to let us help you get involved.
